Big Ben
Woman in a pink dress sitting on grass, smiling up at the camera, wearing sunglasses on her head and an orange wristband

Author
TA Müller-King

Death’s Shadow is TA Müller-King’s debut novel, and the first in her series set in West London, where her characters walk the same roads she has for the past 27 years.

At first, her dream was to work on London-based magazines, and after completing a degree in English and Communication, a post-grad at the London School of Journalism – and being sent on more coffee runs than doing any actual intern work – that was finally realised. For years, she made other journalist’s words shine, but then it was time to focus on doing that for herself instead.

Obsessed with crime novels from a young age, it was only when she was looking for writing inspiration for a novel-writing course that she realised she had lived in a country where the rate of femicide is five times the global average. This fuelled an already active imagination, along with a desire to merge fiction with real issues, and DCI Spider Parker and DS Grace Regan stepped out of her head and on to the page, throwing out the planned MA in Crime Writing and kickstarting the writing process.

When her characters are not dictating what she writes about them, TA spends her free time exploring new places and food with her husband Duncan, playing with their cats Harper and Harley, and trying to meet people like her – something that’s harder than it sounds when murder is always on your mind.

Look out for Deathly Consequence, the second book in the series, out soon.
